A metaphysical, science fiction adventure story in which characters explore the nature of reality, both inside themselves and in the universe around them. The story begins when a starship from the planet Tandalar encounters an overpowering Presence while testing out a new space drive. Shattered by their experience, the star travelers set out on a quest to find the source of this incredible power. From there the story moves to a middle-aged eccentric in a small town in southern Oregon who suddenly feels the need for some company to help explore a huge anomaly near the coast of Oregon. Before long, chance and serendipity bring five people and a group of star travelers together for adventures into other dimensions both inner and outer where they come into contact with various other beings, all pursuing the meaning of life and personal evolution. Adventures and insights abound around speculations on who they (read that ‘we’) are, how they and the cosmos came to be, the true nature of their reality and their ultimate destiny. The character’s adventures include journeys through, 1) the subjective nature of time, 2) parallel lives, 3) existence on differing dimensions of reality, and 4) the nature of consciousness and its possible manipulation through varying types of meditation and visualization; all of which lead the characters to unusual experiences and the need to ruminate about the physics or metaphysics underlying their experiences. In the end both star travelers and human characters are transformed in various ways, solving old problems and opening up new horizons with the promise of further adventure, controversy and discovery. This is the first of (thus far) two books in this series. 376 pages.
Beyond Mandalam is a continuation of the adventure series begun in Journey to Mandalam, The far reaches of consciousness and the life we as consciousness create and inhabit are explored in a number of adventures between humanity and other races engaged in travels through space, time and other dimensions while pursuing and finding the wisdom of life; a wisdom that generates even more potential for adventure and extraordinary experiences. In the second book of this series, the star travelers return to Earth with a new mandate and ultimatum, unaware of the subtle and not so subtle oppostion to their quest from those having other ideas about how certain 'objects' should be used. Secrets from the past are revealed as they affect the efforts of our travelers, sometimes helping, sometimes not. As a result of their experiences, some go through deep transformations of character, revealing to them they may be more than they thought. Are these inner revelations real or just fantasy, illusions of a twisted mind? Only time will tell, but time, as always, is running out. 388 pages.

The Author...Richard E Bradshaw
Born in the Mission district of San Francisco, Richard Bradshaw grew up in the high mountains of Colorado, spent sixteen years in Hawaii experiencing multiculturalism, and lived in Japan for another twenty-six years soaking up an even more radical reality. Inspiration for the Mandalam Series and many of the ideas in the stories are products of personal experience as a practitioner and teacher of Yoga and meditation for over forty years, studies in the fields of Asian religions, (M.A.) and social and cross-cultural psychology (PhD), and dabbling in Eastern and Western cosmologies, quantum physics, and astrophysics. Living surrounded by radically different cultures does much to test the validity of one’s own reality and introduce the possibility of various other realities, some of which have found their way into his stories.
